At Paws on Death Row, our mission is simple: give animals facing uncertain futures the care, resources, and second chances they deserve. Through the generosity of donors across the country, we provide food, toys, bedding, and other essential supplies to shelters in need. We’ve also sponsored animals, helped cover life-saving medical care, and connected pets with loving forever homes.
While we’re making a difference today, we’re also building for tomorrow. We’ve begun construction on our sanctuary in Siler City, NC, creating a safe place where dogs in need can receive comfort, care, and the chance to heal.
Every animal deserves a second chance, and every act of kindness helps us get closer to a future where more shelter animals get the opportunity to find theirs.

Our mission is to save animals on death row by providing them with a second chance at life. We believe that every animal deserves love, care, and a safe home, and we are dedicated to ensuring that no innocent animal is unjustly euthanized due to overcrowding or other circumstances. To achieve this mission, we are dedicated to offering immediate support to shelters and working toward building our very own rescue facility for a future where no animal is left behind, offering essential resources, medical care, and adoption opportunities to animals in need. Every day, we work alongside compassionate communities to ensure that these animals have the opportunity to thrive, while we build toward our long-term vision of a safe haven for them to call home.
The Heart Behind The Mission
Meet Nadia
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Nadia Petruzelli’s connection with animals began in an unexpected way. At just two years old, she was seriously injured by her family dog and required plastic surgery. Despite the experience, Nadia never developed a fear of animals. Instead, her love for them only grew.
That love became even stronger when she brought home Finnegan, an Australian Shepherd who quickly became part of her family. Seeing the love and happiness he brought into her life made Nadia realize that every dog deserves that same care.
After visiting shelters and seeing firsthand the difficult conditions many dogs face, Nadia knew she had to do something. She founded Paws on Death Row to provide shelters with essential supplies, medical support, and resources for animals waiting for their second chance.
Today, Paws on Death Row works with shelters across the country, delivering everything from food and toys to blankets and medical care. Now, Nadia is taking the next step by building a sanctuary where dogs can feel safe, cared for, and at home while they wait for their forever families.
